Our Rainwater Harvesting Filter Kit collection provides the essential "first line of defense" for any professional water collection system. A tank alone cannot guarantee clean water; without proper filtration, organic matter like leaves, moss, and bird droppings will enter the tank, leading to sludge buildup, foul odors, and potential damage to pumps and internal plumbing. Our tiered filter kits (Kits A, B, and C) are designed to handle everything from small domestic roofs to large-scale commercial warehouses.
Each of our filter kits is built around a specialized three-step cleaning process that ensures the highest possible water quality:
The Filter Unit: Rainwater is first passed through a stainless steel mesh or a removable basket filter. This removes the bulk of the debris—leaves, twigs, and moss—before the water ever enters the tank.
The Calmed Inlet: Once filtered, the water is fed to the bottom of the tank through a calmed inlet. This ensures that incoming water enters smoothly without disturbing any fine sediment that has naturally settled on the floor of the tank. It also helps oxygenate the lower layers of water, keeping it fresh.
The Overflow Siphon: When the tank reaches capacity, the excess water exits through an overflow siphon. This component is designed with a "skimming" effect to remove any floating particles (like pollen) from the surface of the water, while the U-bend trap prevents rodents and odors from entering the tank.
To simplify the selection process, we have categorized our kits based on the maximum roof area they can effectively service:
Filter Kit A (Up to 200m2): Perfect for residential houses, garages, and large sheds. This kit features a total retention basket filter that is easy to remove and clean by hand.
Filter Kit B (Up to 450m2): Designed for larger detached homes and agricultural barns. This kit uses a "cascade" or "vortex" style filter that is largely self-cleaning, washing most debris straight to the drain.
Filter Kit C (Up to 800m2): Our premium industrial-grade solution. This high-capacity system can handle massive volumes of water from commercial units and large farm buildings, ensuring consistent filtration even during heavy downpours.
All components in our kits are BS 8515 compliant, meeting the British Standard for Rainwater Harvesting Systems. While our self-cleaning filters (Kits B and C) require minimal attention, we recommend a quick visual inspection of your filter every few months—especially after autumn—to ensure your system is operating at peak efficiency. Investing in a high-quality filter kit today prevents the significant cost and hassle of having to professionally clean or "de-sludge" a large storage tank in the future.
