A calmed inlet is vital because it prevents incoming water from splashing and stirring up sediment at the bottom of the tank. It also introduces oxygenated water to the lower levels, which prevents the water from becoming 'stagnant' or anaerobic.
A basket filter (Kit A) catches 100% of the water but requires you to manually empty the basket of leaves. Self-cleaning filters (Kits B & C) use a mesh that diverts debris to the drain while allowing clean water into the tank, requiring much less maintenance.
No. These filters are designed for non-potable uses like toilet flushing, laundry, and garden irrigation. For drinking water (potable), you would require additional UV disinfection and carbon filtration systems.
An overflow siphon is the exit point for excess water. Our siphons include a skimming inlet to remove surface contaminants and a U-bend trap to stop smells and vermin from getting inside your tank.
You should choose based on the 'plan area' of your roof (length x width). Kit A handles up to 200sqm, Kit B up to 450sqm, and Kit C up to 800sqm. If your roof is larger, you may need to install multiple filters.
Most of our filters are designed to be installed 'in-tank'—meaning they sit just inside the manhole lid of your water tank. However, we also offer 'pre-tank' versions that can be buried in the ground before the tank.
Basket filters collect almost 100% of the water. Self-cleaning filters are slightly less efficient (around 90-95%) because a small amount of water is used to wash the debris away, but they save significant time on maintenance.
Yes, our filter kits are universal and can be fitted to almost any plastic or GRP water tank, provided there is enough space in the turret or manhole area for the components.
