Rainwater is ideal for any non-potable commercial application, including vehicle fleet washing, cooling towers, dust suppression, commercial laundry, and toilet flushing in office blocks or shopping centres.
Yes, many of our large commercial tanks can be dual-purposed to act as both a rainwater harvesting source and a fire-fighting water reserve (sprinkler tank), provided they meet the specific volume and fitting requirements of BS EN 12845.
For large commercial buildings, we use high-capacity vortex filters. If the roof area exceeds the capacity of a single filter, we install multiple filters in parallel or use a 'pre-tank' manhole filter system to handle the surge.
This depends on site access. One large tank (e.g., 30,000L) is often more cost-effective, but several smaller tanks linked at the base are easier to transport and can be positioned around a site to better fit the available space.
Commercial systems require an annual service of the pumps and control valves. Filters should be checked quarterly to ensure they are clear of debris, particularly after autumn leaf-fall.
Our HDPE tanks are highly resistant to many chemicals. If you intend to store industrial process water rather than just rainwater, please contact us with the chemical details to ensure material compatibility.
When installed correctly on a proper concrete base, high-quality polyethylene tanks have an expected service life of 20 to 25 years or more, as they do not rust or corrode like steel tanks.
In many cases, large tanks may require planning permission depending on their height and visibility. We always recommend checking with your local planning authority before installation.
