While dimensions vary by design, a standard vertical 3000 litre tank is approximately 1.5 to 1.7 metres in diameter and stands around 1.8 to 2.2 metres tall. We also offer slimline and horizontal versions for sites where vertical space or footprint is a concern.
When filled to capacity, a 3000 litre tank weighs approximately 3 tonnes (3,000kg), plus the weight of the tank itself. Because of this immense weight, it is mandatory to install the tank on a level, smooth, reinforced concrete base to prevent structural failure or ground subsidence.
Yes, provided you choose a 'Potable' model. Our potable 3000L tanks are manufactured using WRAS-approved, food-grade polyethylene, ensuring they are safe for storing drinking water for human and livestock consumption.
Absolutely. This size is ideal for larger residential properties or commercial buildings. A 3000 litre capacity allows you to collect significant amounts of soft rainwater for garden irrigation, vehicle washing, and toilet flushing, helping to significantly reduce water utility bills.
Baffled tanks have internal walls that reduce the movement (sloshing) of water. You only need a baffled tank if you intend to transport the water on a vehicle or trailer. For stationary storage in a garden or yard, a standard non-baffled tank is perfectly suitable.
All our 3000L tanks are available in opaque colours like black or forest green. These dark plastics block out 100% of sunlight, preventing the photosynthesis required for algae to grow. If the tank is kept in direct sunlight, we always recommend an opaque colour.
Most 3000 litre tanks come with a pre-moulded 1" or 2" BSP threaded outlet as standard. Because they are made from high-quality MDPE, they can easily be customized with additional fittings, overflows, or float valves to suit your specific plumbing requirements.
Yes. By connecting the bottom outlets of multiple tanks using a flexible pipe and valves, you can create a 'tank farm.' This is a cost-effective way to achieve 6000L, 9000L, or more of storage without the logistical challenges of installing one massive tank.
